Clay Time Studio Delft is proud to host this unique master class with renowned ceramics artist Uriel Caspi for a 2-day masterclass on building pots and sculptures using rope and clay. Experience hands-on learning, explore an alternative old-centuries handbuilding technique using sisal rope and clay, and develop your skills with expert guidance.
This immersive workshop is perfect for all levels, and specifically for artists who are interested in modelling and forming medium to large-scale pottery and sculpture.

Course Overview
This masterclass focuses on an alternative technique of modelling and forming objectsusing clay and sisal rope. Participants will begin by learning how to construct a modular structure that serves as the foundation for their work. They will then apply rope and clay to build and shape their intended forms.

On the second day, participants will complete the construction process and conclude with a decorating session.Whether you are beginner/intermediate/advanced, the masterclass offers the opportunity to create a unique sculptural object while gaining the knowledge and techniques needed to build medium- to large-scale pottery and sculpture. The course combines hands-on practice with lectures and demonstrations to provide a comprehensive understanding of the process.

• The knowledge how to build and fire medium to large-scale objects

Guest Teacher Bio
From early childhood, ceramic artist Uriel Caspi (b. 1994) has been fascinated with clay. Navigating between the revival of ancient crafts and contemporary art studio practice, he creates installations of large-scale ceramic sculptures the exist simultaneously in the classical past and the Posthuman future. Caspi earned a BFA in Ceramics from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem (2018), and an MFA from Alfred University, New York (2021). Caspi
has exhibited works and installations in museums, galleries, and art fairs in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Israel, Taiwan, and Japan. Caspi is based in the Netherlands.
